The Buccaneer and Buffalo would have been difficult to build successfully if the company was run by experienced builders and the management was involved in ongoing bribery and organized crime dealings. Unfortunately, the Buccaneer was being produced by militant ex-- auto workers with a reputation for striking on a dime. Brewster had two brothers that served as their marketing team. Both had been involved in fraudulent sales contracts and aircraft smuggling . It's only surprising that the Buccaneer/Buffalo weren't bigger failures. The Finns actually liked their Buffalos, model B-339, and considered them to generally be the equal of most Soviet fighters flown against them. It was only their use against the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies that showed how obsolescent the B-339 actually was against better aircraft flown by experienced pilots. The final blow was Brewster being awarded a contract to produce and early versions of the much more advanced Vought Corsair. Not only was the workmanship horrid, but the Miranda brothers fell back on their old ways, cheating customers and lying about the products. It was only the Navy seizing control of Brewster in 1944 that finally put the company out of its misery,
