It's Ray cappo from youth of today and shelter
8
Not everybody has time to do that especially the ones that are creating teachers
4
Well that's good because that's exactly what he is
3
Evidently it will also blow your wallet it's a lot of weird stuff going on about him I need to do more research
2
@sahamal_savu sure they've actually crossed paths already they would have been touring at the same time
2
@matthewcoughlan2351 Yeah man they could have really addressed a lot of different things. Also write brought up a lot of points that works fine but I've heard them before and other speeches of his so I was hoping that there would have been a bit more nuance. Some talking about other great bands from that era to get people interested. I'm happy that Ray gets the exposure deserves it but there was so much more that could have been covered
2
@matthewcoughlan2351 I think he is actually trying to move on.but we keep dragging him back in lol. He did he did perform in both youth of today and shelter tours this year. Shelter show was good
2
@matthewcoughlan2351 yeah I do understand you they really dropped the ball not talking about 90s hardcore more it's such a Hot Topic right now. I've been actually documenting 90s hardcore, punk and Industrial bands that are still touring check it out an Instagram you'll appreciate it . Terrence_miele on ig. The almost 15 minutes of reminiscences of BJJ was wasted time as far as Ray is concerned I actually met him not long ago while photographing. I appreciate that shelter played. But from a story point of view there was a lot more interesting stuff going down in the basement. Seeing hardcore Legends get together now with their kids. And reminiscing was interesting. Like in skateboarding it would have been interesting to talk about how you go from being a quote hardcore icon to figuring out a career path and taking care of a family. doing all that stuff but I still keeping some type of integrity. I also watch a lot of Ray on wisdom of the Sages a lot of stuff was already repeated he definitely could have went into different territory even from the Indian and Krishna stuff I've heard it all before on other podcast by him. I really want to hear the reason for why youth of today and shelter have been playing. was it a finances thing or just a Nostalgia thing it's nice to see him get the rub from Joe he does work super hard
2
@matthewcoughlan2351 yeah man definitely. I just saw 108 show reunions I was really happy that Rob said. Something very interesting that I always felt the same way about. Despite everything hardcore and punk should always be about family can you do your best not to isolate someone in their failures you will get none of this you broke the edge you're not welcome back s*** from me. A movement fueled by hate it's not a movement at all. You're welcome back anytime much admiration that you stayed clean while working in that bar. Life is not so black and white as you get older. I got no problems drinking a kombucha using tinctures which have grain alcohol, or a cup of red wine once a month and still consider myself straight edge. It's done for health reasons. people seem to forget that the guidelines were based on intoxification. somehow the movement cannot and will not distinguish between moral Supremacy verse being a little flexible and reaching and educating a larger audience.
2
Back then not so much. but you are right today when that phone rings I know it's a scam.
2
@607shon sorry your life is so lame
2
And what's the point about that am I missing something
1
I just photographed and filmed recent shelter show in Brooklyn amazing dude as always Terrence_miele on ig
1
@stalzemsty1669 on a side note a lot of them are still around today not being hypocrites
1
@stalzemsty1669 we all know it had its good and its bad depending on the show I'm actually working on a documentary project photographing 90s hardcore punk and Industrial bands that are still around and touring. As far as the straight edge thing especially the militant ones I'm fine I'm vegetarian I think it's really important. I hate that some strategies used to think that if you break the edge you can never quote go back life is always full of mistakes. I think Ray made a good point at the end that the straight edge Community could definitely benefit from. That regardless if you veered there should always be a place to come back to and connect. I also think there needs to be a hard debate within that community about what medicine is. Because in my book if you're taking a little bit of CBD oil non THC for health or disease are you make a little tea out of some mushroom stems because it actually has amazing health benefits as opposed to Pharmaceuticals. There needs to be a hard to debate in the straight-edge that one used correctly certain derivatives have health benefits and as long as you are conscious and not obliterated lack of a better term you're not any less straight edge.. I hope that makes a little sense excuse any typos
1
Yeah you seem to have a weird problem with that that's actually funny and sad
1
For those of you not recognizing Ray this is Ray cappo from youth of today and shelter.. if you know Punk and hardcore you'll recognize the name
1
@john-martin what are you even saying
1
Lauren Doughty yeah I'm super surprised that that did not get addressed. In New York you still feel it a little bit
1
This podcast was actually great but yeah I do think Joe is kind of starting to over extend himself between the podcast UFC commitments and everything else in maybe too much weed to
1
@castingsilhouettes792 must podcast are at least 2 hours 3 hours long pretty standard for him especially when you he is dealing with an old friend
1
@castingsilhouettes792 yeah I got the first reference I might have missed another one on one thing for sure though that's true the more Joe likes the guy the long of the podcast get. If he gives you less than 2 hours. That usually means he did not find you as interesting as he thought you would be. ☺
1
@matthewcoughlan2351 I need to look that one up
1
what are you talkin about that's not what he said at all
1
Yeah strangely enough you just performed a couple months ago here in New York I wanted to question why he still does a show every once in awhile or tour
1
@DhruvSharma-fb2py who is that,
1
@ainslie187 and where do people stand with him. I'm not sure why man who prides himself on no ego shows up to take Awards. Not sure about the situation with his wife. And I've read that he was kind of a man grabber. I got very mixed feelings about him
1
@RadAlarm that is my point....
1
You seem to be easily distracted what a shame
1
That sentence doesn't even make sense
1
@konradnsa yeah and you still haven't given one are you implying that Ray is not quote straight edge anymore.. by the way the definition of straight edge needs to be changed.
1
@konradnsa mainly my biggest concern is about things like CBD oil non THC and mushroom stems to make a very simple relaxing tea as opposed to using Pharmaceuticals. .. like anything in life we grew up in scene. But unfortunately straight edge has not evolved. Am I no longer straight edge if I have a kombucha. I have to measure in minor amounts of alcohol content verse the health benefits same with tinctures tinctures are a great way to get the most out of herbs but you need to do it with a small amount of grain alcohol but you're not doing it to get drunk. Time for a new definition of straight edge
1
I hear nothing when I pass by at Starbucks
1
@Bubbles99718 not really it just part of a yogi outfit.and the culture. There are a lot of beautiful ones that actually have Indian symbols and gods on them as reminders reminders of your path
1
@TheBonnieFranklin you're completely missing the point
1
@GardenerEarthGuy good luck with that.
1
@GardenerEarthGuy possibly like you says everybody grows up young and dumb it's about the evolution
1
Those who don't know Ray kapos Legend he was in Youth of today and shelter. I've got some footage up on my Instagram you can check it out Terrence_miele
1
@607shon I wasn't giving you any I was just making a scientific observation
