As a teacher myself, I can say what she did wasn't illegal in some places, but it WAS creepy and predatory, nonetheless. We all know if the genders were reversed, no one would be defending the teacher, and it's because the teacher has power and authority over the student. She could've spent years grooming him before he turned 18. And she's not even physically unattractive; she had plenty of men her age or older to choose from. Someone who looks like her and isn't even 30 definitely was taking advantage of her students, and it pisses me off to see people defending this eff'ed up behavior from her.

@justinmiller5660 And grooming a minor and waiting until they're 18 doesn't make it "ethical" or automatically legal. She was charged based on the power abuse, so it doesn't matter what his age is, anyway. Same way a prison guard couldn't ethically have sex with an inmate. I swear, THIS many people in this comment section really defending child grooming... As if people mentally mature from 17 to 35 overnight.

@Dariusknight I agree and I'm a teacher (outside the US.) Our society is so screwed up. If this was a 6'2", 26 year old man sleeping with a 5'2" 18 year old girl, nobody would be making excuse like "She's technically an adult." Someone pushing 30 slept with a high school student; it's messed up, regardless what the specific laws are.

@NoOneToNoOne89 I hate when people try to use technicalities to defend something anyone with common sense knows is wrong. So, according to your logic, if a man kidnapped a teenage girl, or found a homeless teen girl, took her in, manipulated and controlled her using his power and authority over her, then literally waited till midnight on her 18th birthday to have sex with her, it's all a-okay in your eyes? Grooming doesn't exist because he's technically 18, despite his mental state or capacity? I can't speak if it should be a felony or not, but it was definitely an abuse of power and people like you who defend these things are saying more about yourself and the "implications" you'd do in such a situation, more than anything.

If someone is "technically 18," but they literally have the mind of a 10 or 12 year old, you'd still find it okay to sleep with them? If you groomed then for years and WAITED until they were 18, it excuses all the grooming and abuse of power you did on the person beforehand? Really? You are either retarded, a scumbag who'd do the same thing, or both. And I'm only saying that cause there's no excuse here. Yeah, "the law is the law," but common sense should matter more and grooming a minor and then waiting until they're 18 is still a f**cked up thing to do. @lynne8422 You act as if people nowadays are fully mature the minute midnight hits at 18. Hell, most adults nowadays don't actually "grow up" until they hit their mid 30s. Especially in today's age of social media. Regardless of his age, it doesn't excuse her abuse of power, or likelihood of grooming her student before he turned 18, as if she couldn't date a man her age or older. This comment section with people basically excusing statutory rape cause it was the day of his 18th birthday are really making me lose faith in humanity even further.
