  2. When I was a kid in middle school way back when, it always pissed me off that Greenwich as in Greenwich Mean Time was arbitrarily decided to be "the center of Earth" when making the time zones. As if anyone gives a damn about this stupid place in the middle of nowhere in England and the whole world decided to just follow time zones based on somewhere 99.99% of the planet doesn't care about or know about. They could've chosen so many scientifically better places to put the prime meridian, but they choose themselves as the center of the planet. It's so unbelievably narcissistic and STUPID and it still annoys me, 25 years later. The only thing that calms me down a little is knowing scientists in general tend to be extremely narcissistic, especially with naming things after themselves, no matter how stupid-sounding their names are, like "Hubble" or "Crapper."
