  1. I'm an American living in South Korea. Burger King is only so popular here in Korea because they're everywhere, essentially being the McDonalds of this region, while there's usually only one single McDonalds in every major city besides Seoul. BK greatly outnumbers any other chain, even long-time local Korean chain Lotteria (but Lotteria is super-nasty garbage.) Burger King is also much cheaper here than other places, and the food is actually slightly better (it's still Burger King though, so not "good," but "at least better than at-home.") Back in the US, I'd never go to a Burger King simply because Wendy's tasted better, McDonalds were more abundant and often open 24 hours, and Burger King was the most expensive place out there. The three most important things customers care about with fast food chains is Convenience, Taste, and Price, and I'd say Burger King is dead-last in all three of those, in the US. BK in America is like the Papa John's of burger places: "Only as a last resort if you're really hungry and one is nearby." Yet here in Korea, you can get eight actually-great-tasting, real-chicken nuggets (which taste identical to US McNuggets, despite not being McDonalds) for about $2. I don't even eat fast food too often, but that is a hell of a deal! Simply put, Korea runs Burger King far better than they do in the US.
