  1. Most of the boat people were Chinese that lived in Vietnam that were kicked out of Vietnam by the government. A lot ended up in the UK because they landed in Hong Kong which was part of the UK at the time. Thousands of them ended up living in the UK after being housed on ex military bases in the UK. RAF Sopley in the New Forest near where I live was used. These people came to the UK and they did NOT ask for hotels and other like the rubber boat people of today coming from the middle east and they wanted to be part of the UK and work. That's why the UK now has wonderful Chinese takeaways and restaurants all over the UK to eat at and buy from. They also did NOT want to change anything in the UK. Thank you.
