But not as outrageous as the employment statistics of the USA.

For as long as the USA exists in its present form as a country whose political economy relies on its military‐industrial complex for its growth, a complex built on never‐ending war and neo‐imperialism.
9
The world has been in a depression since 2008, barring perhaps the Chinese. The system is in crisis and I think it might get a lot worse before it gets any better.
5
Sorry to burst your bubble but the free market doesn't exist, never has done and never will. And there's nothing inherently good about private for-profit entities, nor competition for its own sake.
3
Also spending too much money on the military‐industrial complex.
2
Read your Keynes.
2
@eltecnico9541 They may have no choice in the matter as the USA and China compete and push them out.
2
C.P.C. — Communist Party of China. Americans keep spelling it wrong, testament to the poor standards of their education system and media. It's like calling the United States of America (USA) the United American States (UAS).
1
@plebbedgaming7056 the USA thinks it can do a replay of the cold war where Saudi Arabia deliberately over-produced oil to damage the economy of the Soviet Union while 'Star Wars' forced them to engage in a costly arms race. I think they're trying it again with the USA's proposed Golden Dome defence project.
1
@Rjsjrjsjrjsj Well, isn't it? Is not the Bretton Woods system established in 1947 beginning to break down with the trend towards de-dollarisation – countries transacting business in their own currencies instead of the US dollar?
1
Be quiet! The media of the US empire wants you to think that these are spontaneous, grassroots movements originating in the irrepressible love of the free market (freedom) of (neo-) liberal capitalism that resides in every beating heart of every human being that's ever lived.
1
@pedrorequio5515 another country to exploit.
1
Perhaps the USA should apologise for goading Japan into war and Britain and the other western powers for encouraging Japan by serving as the role model of what a 'modern' country should be. You want Japan to become westernised, well to do that you have to have an empire with colonies and do what empires do: conquer and enslave other countries. That's how the so‐called West got to be so powerful in Asia and elswhere. Ever heard of the Opium Wars. Perhaps the United Kingdom and the USA should be forever apologising for imposing themselves so violently on China, Korea and Japan, all of whom suffered under European and American colonialism.
1
You're dealing with a nation of monotheists who believe the world was made in 7 days and men come from dust and women from ribs. If you can believe in such nonsense you can believe anything.
1
The GDP of the USA is far more manipulated/distorted than China's. It's basically a service economy that counts such things as stock buy-backs and issuing non-performing loans to real estate companies as part of its GDP.
1
So he's actually Chinese-American (Republic of China = Chinese).
1
@sergeykish Korea invaded itself?
1
@sergeykish ... and the USA the other half.
1
@sergeykish Korea invading itself sounds preposterous on the face of it but westerners think it's okay to draw lines on maps, create new (puppet) states that serve their interests and then talk about how borders are sacrosanct and how wrong it is to violate them. Hypocrisy of the highest order.
1
The West pushing neo-Malthusianism really screwed China. They bought into the overpopulation b.s. hook, line and sinker. India seems to have fallen for it as well. In fact... the whole world. Bill and Melinda Gates are overjoyed.
1
So has the United States. Your point?
1
The USA has been essentially bankrupt since the 1960's. The abandonment of the gold standard in favour of the petrodollar was implicit recognition of this. And rather than acknowledge this and take the necessary measures to get back to bring solvent they have made things worse by printing dollars like there's no tomorrow and carrying on as if the rest of the world owes them a living. It took the USA barely thirty years to go from the world's wealthiest country to the world's most indebted. That's what war against your own working class/proletariat (anti-communism/anti-socialism) does to you. The economy of the USA is a war economy (like that of 1930's Germany) which is ultimately unsustainable. It has run out of the low hanging fruit of weaker countries to exploit and now must face off with the big boys (Russia, China) who can fight back.
1
@geofflepper3207 Also, the petro-monarchies will have less revenue and less money for social spending, as well other oil exporting countries. Great for the white man, less so for the non-whites of the 'Global South'.
1
If Chinese made products are "garbage" it's because the US multinational companies that use Chinese companies and labour for products sold in the USA (undercutting American labour) want them to be. They are the ones that set the quality specifications for US imports from China.
1
Did Vietnam want to remain divided for no other reason than some white guys on the other side of the planet decided that they should?
1
@bruceh9780 and all propped up by the United States. It's almost as if the United States doesn't like democracy and that late stage western crypto-fascism known as neoliberal capitalism cannot function properly with it.
1
@RationalAUS explain what "radical" means. Radical as in telling the white man to f... off‽
1
A parasitical American rentier economy built upon infinite growth in the stock market and financed by infinite printing of fiat currency.... What could go wrong!
1
Spoiler alert: it already has. That fact is old news, albeit not very well known by the general population of the West, apparently.
1
So you support Germans destroying the Warsaw ghetto?
1
@SelfProclaimedEmperor ●□●□●□●□●□●□● How do you embargo the workshop of the world, the world's biggest industrial economy by far? Especially when you need much of what it makes and which your own economy cannot provide, at least not in sufficient quantities. And other countries, are they going to sacrifice themselves for a bunch of white supremacist imperialists half a world away wanting to hold on to their neocolony in Asia?
1
The US military is far-and-away the biggest polluter and user of fossil fuels on the planet. Also, China is the biggest investor in renewable and 'green' forms of energy. To wit, your comment is based on ignorance or out of date information.
1
@atomnia The ROC is, according to the United Nations, a part of the PRC. Your comment is thus akin to saying that the United States is threatening dominance over Hawaii or Guam.
1
They are a puppet state. As such they are not supposed to develop economically and compete with the parasitic rentier capitalism of the USA and western Europe. Just look what happens when a non-white country, China, does start to develop: the USA and its client states begin attacking it. Same with Japan. Vanity projects which help the US economy by recycling dollars and propping up its banks and military‐industrial complex is what they are encouragedto do.
1
Why has China's economy slumped (allegedly)? Maybe it's because the USA is launching an economic sanctions-based war against it, and getting its minions around the world to join in. Like it does with Cuba and Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Korea, Syria....
1
Exactly as European imperialists wanted. Divide and conquer.
1
Exactly what the US imperium wants.
1
@guydreamr Well Britain, France and the USA seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. 300+ years and still going.
