@lonelypeopleruglydeformedc8139 Taiwan is a part of China already, recognised by almost the entire international community as such. How then can a country invade itself? When the confederate states seceded from the Union did the federal government of Abraham Lincoln invade them, or did he simply take them back? Were they independent countries or renegade states?

@havenhemmings3574 I don't know, but since when has the United States, or any of the major military powers in Europe, ever cared about such things. Such laws of war are to hang the leaders of defeated countries on anyway (think Tojo, think Saddam).

@johnklink6038 Then you'd trigger a war that Taiwan, for all its bluster, is very likely to lose with all the loss of life that entails. At the end they would have suffered for nothing. South Vietnam was an independent country too, but it was still reunified despite the 'best intentions' of you in know who.
