  2.  @settekwan2708  Modern Russian weaponry (torpedoes, anti‐air) has effectively made the weapons of the USA obsolete, along with its strategy for 'defending' Asia by denying the USA both the air and sea superiority it would need to defeat either of them, weaponry the Russians I'm sure would be willing to lend the Chinese. The USA's fleet of aircraft carriers would be like Polish cavalry charging German tanks, showy but useless.

  3.  @spencerallison3196  China isn't attacking anyone, ergo it doesn't need a particularly large or especially powerful navy. It's navy is defensive. That said I think China's navy is powerful enough to repel any attack from the USA in its own waters, which is what matters. Also, China and Russia have anti‐ship and anti‐aircraft missiles that negate any numerical superiority in naval assets the USA could field.

  5. Don't confuse social Darwinism with the real thing, scientific Darwinism. That would be like confusing pseudo-scientific neo-classical economics (an ideology masquerading as a social science) with the real social science of classical economics.

  7. Hypersonic missiles and supersonic missiles would destroy the US navy and airforce. Modern submarines and their torpedoes (especially if they are Russian) would make mincemeat out of any surface ships that got near to the coast, as would modern fighter jets (again, especially if they are Russian). The USA is falling behind in certain areas and has fallen behind in others. Aircraft carriers are obsolete in modern warfare against the kind of modern military that the Russians and (probably the Chinese too) can field. Indeed, the US navy simulated war with China over Taiwan and lost in every scenario. Off the Chinese coast and Russia's border their respective militaries have the upper hand and are virtually guaranteed to win.
