I'm guessing that if one of his organs (like his stomach or large intestine) had been ruptured then death might very well have been due to the rapid onset of acute septicaemia (blood poisoning) caused by all the bacteria in those organs. Either that or he died of internal bleeding (which I assume is the more likely of the two). Whatever the cause of death, it was a sad ending and a horrible tragedy. The world lost a great entertainer. May his soul rest in peace.
