Africaans, a derivative of Dutch. The Netherlands is where these white settlers originally came from. They were originally called Boers and nowadays are known as Africaaners.

The film on its own terms is good but I dislike how the issue is framed in terms of modernity versus backwardness, as if Tibetan culture is inherently inferior (indeed, all non-capitalist, non-industrialised, non-urban societies), implying an underlying belief in the idea of social progress and historicism (the idea of history being teleological in nature, that their exists some end state, modernity, to which all societies are heading). This, in my opinion, leads to a negative value judgement from the very beginning.

@ujwal8240 But it is due to western influence. Without the West it probably would not exist or would have taken on a uniquely indigenous form. Before contact with the West this was not an issue. The modern concept of human rights and women's rights are something that comes almost exclusively from the West and is often weaponised and turned into a full-on assault on the culture of others, an example being Islam and its role in resisting western neo-imperialism. It's often derided as out-of-date and the societies that are predominantly Muslim being in some way backward and in need of development. What may start of as genuine concern and a desire to help ends up as being just another form of imperialism, this time cultural rather than economic.
