Nah, not going to happen. Like the ancient Romans, historians will still be singing their praises 2000 years from now, describing the proto-fascist Romans as the height of civilisation and sophistication, the peoples languishing under their jackboot as barbarians who should be grateful for being forcefully romanised, and lamenting the demise of Roman tyranny, with its decadence, endemic corruption, hyperinflation and crazy cult of Jesus at the hands of said barbarians as something to be saddened by.

Please keep producing these anti‐PragerU videos Hakim, they are necessary in my opinion. While my sympathies tend toward socialism rather than communism I would prefer the latter to capitalism (and certainly fascism) any day of the week if it can reduce absolute poverty and serve as a springboard for further economic and social development.

They pull the same trick when discussing Cuba, Venezuela, etc. They do not see the elephant in the room.
6
Agreed, but it's quintessentially capitalist, so what can you expect.

@wojtek9675 China. Russia. Cuba.

@bgoodfella7413 Often the label conservative is used to cover up a whole multitude of sins. It's like the go‐to word for anyone on the right of the political spectrum wanting to appear moderate no matter how far or hard right they may be. I'm sure the mob that gatecrashed the Congress building considered themselves conservative, as do Christian fundamentalists and alt‐right militia.

And which side are the Eastern Europeans still running to? Eastern Europe is now supposed to be a capitalist paradise and yet we are still seeing mass emigration to the west. Maybe Eastern European capitalism is not real capitalism. Maybe they need to be more like 'real' capitalist countries such as Haiti or the Philippines.

Rape within marriage was legal in Britain until recently.

Heavily subsidised by Western capitalism using resources taken from the rest of the world, including the Baltic countries themselves (one being the brain drain caused by economic migrants from the region).

I'll tell that to the Chinese as they overtake the USA and its client states in the EU in both per capita as well as purchasing parity terms.
2
@handsfortoothpicks On paper. In fact China is number one.

@wojtek9675 A political fight within the Chinese government between the Maoists and Dengists. After the failure of the Great Leap Forwards (a misconceived attempt to catch up with the West and Russia) Mao was sidelined. The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution was his (successful) attempt to get back into power. It had nothing to do with communism per se; it was a power struggle, pure and simple.

... Seen... but not been able to afford.

What is western civilization? Where and when does it begin and end? The concept is meaningless. It's like trying to impose boundaries on infinity, to mould all the varying historical experiences of a multitude of peoples, societies and cultures over many centuries into just one totalizing whole.

In all fairness many of these commentators are government trolls or bots and even when they are not are heavily influenced by a lifetime of state propaganda by the media and indoctrination by schools and church. That and they being often of the self-made, I'm-alright-Jack sort who show an insouciant contempt for the less well off. Like Hakim has said, if communism and socialism are so bad why do the NATO states go to such lengths to censor the internet, troll and shadow ban social media platforms, especially considering that the left has, if the capitalist media are to be believed, been decisively defeated during the cold war 1.0 when history ended with the triumph of (neo-) liberal corporatism.

@metalmythology6282the population doesn't drop, it grows old. Birth rates decline. But that takes decades.
2
And what does that 'growth' mean in real terms? A growth in millionaires? A growth in foreign capital that is then used to further the exploitation of the country's resources for the benefit of foreigners and a comprador class? What does the Gini coefficient or other social indicators of a healthy and fair society say? GDP and GNP are ways that capitalists measure success, but like an IQ or EQ test, they fall far short of ideal when applied to the real world.

@NBrioDaZueraRules Agreed. You support the USA and its empire and you're described as successful. If you don't you're described as a failure. It reminds me of the the western media's use of the term 'second world', a term has fallen out of use since the collapse of communism, as it no longer serves a propaganda function (to denigrate the communist economies of the Warsaw Pact countries). Since the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union the economies of eastern and central Europe are now described routinely as booming in any context comparing the two... but just not to the same degree as their western European counterparts.

@jenm1 Can you provide examples of what you consider are lies about world war 2?

@jenm1 what university is that?

Akathisia can be caused by certain types of drugs though. I've done a quick search and it says that anti-depressants/anti-pyschotics are a chief cause, though I am given to understand that long-term use of painkillers (which I think is what Mr Peterson may have been addicted to) can also cause it. ~•~ So it doesn't exactly let Mr Peterson off the hook even though he may have initially been prescribed benzodiasepine or similar drugs legally and for entirely legitimate reasons.

@Effective_tool_of_Satan Sheffield in England.

@FWAKWAKKA And his sidekick too.

Nah, he supports the state of Israel, or more correctly, it's policies of extermination and expulsion of the natives á la Hitler's Germany.

@CraigKeidel Fairer...? Fairer is not as fair as fairest. Fairer is relative not absolute. Fairer as in you can go from living in a tent to living in a garden shed while I go from living in an duplex apartment to living in a large detached house; fairer as in you get to live in a house while I get to live in a mansion. Fair as in not if it involves me getting less, though still sufficient, and you getting more.

Billion? Don't you mean million?

@frocco7125 It sounds like something the CIA would invent as a culture war divide and conquer tactic.

But will it ever return though?

For a corporation everything has a price tag and is owned by someone, even extending to abstract and intangible ideas.
