"Initiate another conflict." What conflict did they initiate the first time?

I think that only certain types of asbestos are harmful and if used with the proper attention to safety all types can be used with minimal risk of causing asbestosis. Asbestos was phased out in much of Europe because cheaper and/or safer alternatives were available (and probably also because capitalists had found ways to make greater profits by introducing alternatives).

Neither did the British, French, Dutch, Spanish or the United States. Apart from when they got an all too brief taste of their own medicine in the 1940's, they got off scot free.

@bamzoclub9894 And that's why they use it. There are far better ways of measuring wealth and, more importantly, how that wealth, along with the political, economic and social power wealth brings, is distributed within a society but western media and government seem rather reluctant to use them.

It's socialism with Chinese characteristics. Like German National socialism was communism with fascist characteristics, but still 'socialism'. These isms are whatever governments want them to be. It's basically capitalism/ corporatism but they have to keep calling it communism until the older generation die off then. Only then will they be honest about it.

One of the reasons for the invasion of Afghanistan – an invasion that has killed directly or indirectly upwards of a million people and displaced many more – was because the Afghans banned the production of opium, cutting off a source of funding for the CIA and its mercenary armies.

@niqqaa And what wages are you willing to pay: subsistence, the bare minimum? Oh, I suppose it's what you can afford, the market rate, so they should just be grateful that a fascist dictator – a capitalist boss – deigns to employ them. And if they don't like working for you they can always work for some other fascist boss; if they don't like working on the sugar plantation there's always work on the cotton plantation.... Get real! In a depression the mantra "Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I did and it worked for me. " becomes a sick joke. Hope is a good breakfast but a poor supper.

Probably a combination of the two. Drug users tend to neglect themselves and the drugs they take often suppress appetite. They also probably lack money to buy food as well. All in all a very sad situation to be in.

17:45 "Seized the capital..."? How about liberated? — 15:22 No mention of the USA freezing Afghanistan's assets, leaving the country unable to pay for food imports and leading to widespread malnutrition? — Context is necessary to gain a proper understanding. Without it you'll be left ill-educated.

Who's culture, theirs or ours? Look in the mirror. Each culture has its bad side. Not that I'm trying to justify anything one way or the other.

Didn't the Americans and NATO bomb them back to the 19th century?

But self-sufficiency in food is exactly what the USA and its agricultural and chemical sectors don't want Afghanistan to have. They want the whole world to be dependent on the USA and its collaborators in the West for food and other products.

Is that just a knock-off of the world famous Russia Kalishnikov Ak47?

The Taliban? Why don't you refer to them as the Afghan government? That is, after all, what they are (assuming Afghanistan has a government that is analogous to a European government rather than something that is organised in some other way).
