What was the USA doing in China after the war in the Pacific had ended?
2
Capitalist capitulation. If China had not capitulated to capitalism under Deng Xioping there would probably none of this.

It worked out fine. Hong Kong, like Macao, is still a booming and prosperous metropolis, integrated economically, politically and culturally with the rest of China, just like Tibet and Xinjiang. 😝

I have news for you: - TAIWAN (THE REPUBLIC OF TAIWAN CHINA) IS CHINESE So ask yourself, should secessionists in your country develop nuclear, biological and chemical weapons and use them against the rest of your country, helped by your neighbours (who, I'm sure, will be only too happy to see your country broken into pieces)?

Syria and Ukraine aren't war experiences? A 75 year cold war isn't war experience? Fighting ragtag armies in Afghanistan is not the same as fighting a modern industrialised state that is your peer.

Yes, protectionism should be the order of the day. Each country should build up its own industries and infrastructure and concentrate on growing its domestic economy to suit the needs of the majority of its people. Just like countries did prior to the 15th century before the western Europeans, later followed by their North America offshoots, forced everyone into doing business with them, on their unfair terms, and undermining the markets of everyone else. I wonder how long the West would last if everyone else were to use their domestic resources first and foremost for their own economic development instead of that of the West.

@achalpratap338 What does Bharat/Bharatvarsha mean in English?

The USA cannot realistically defend Taiwan from China. It could, I suppose, in the event of military attack by China launch an economic embargo, together with its protégés and client states (aka allies) but how successful this would be in the long-term is debatable.

That sounds just like the kind of thing a certain country would try to pull off.

@SK-tr1wo Agreed, but some countries are more prone than others to attempt coups d'etat on the other side of the world. Of course, I suppose it is within the bounds of possibility that it was a mock coup or false flag carried out by the Russians to justify their intervention, especially as to make a point during heightened tensions between the Russian Federation and the USA.

Actually, they do. China has good relations with all of its neighbours, especially commercial and economic. It is, after all, the world's number 1 economy (the USA being in second place, and maybe even third, when all its massaging of its GDP figures is taken into account).
