What would happen? 20 rounds of sanctions by the West, devastating to the EU but otherwise ineffective (and which the USA would be secretly circumventing), much name calling and sabre rattling, then lots of censorship and most western countries turning into de facto fascist, McCarthyite dictorships. Then an attempt by NATO at proxy war using mercenaries and terrorists that would ultimately be defeated, probably in short order à la Ukraine using fascists and neo-fascists fighting in the name of democracy and freedom.
