I think you you mean modern (i.e. 17th‐19th century) chattel slavery as practised by the USA, Britain, Belgium and France as all classic forms of slavery are considered as chattel slavery with the modern, most recent form as practicedby by Europeans being generally much worse than what had gone before.

More likely it was a change in global weather/climate that did that with the Sea Peoples being more of a consequence than a cause.

@texanwokey8366 As did the Spanish. Heard of burning at the stake or garroting for witchcraft and religious non-conformism (polytheism). As well as those tortured to death by the Inquisition for being different. The Spanish and Portuguese both sacrificed to their gods.

I don't think you can make a useful comparison between the ad hoc casual enslavement of Europeans by opportunistic pirates acting on their own initiative with the industrial‐scale, state‐sponsored slavery of western Europe and North America, a purely commercial, profit‐driven endeavour that depleted Africa of millions.

@Chris-fn4df it seems like the Americans are trying to do what the Ottomans did by attempting to cut off trade between East and West, between Europe and Russia/China but are only succeeding in making these countries more powerful.
