  1. The crisis in Sri Lanka may have been engineered deliberately at least in part by the USA. They may want to create the conditions in which an anti‐Chinese faction come to power who oppose the Belt and Road or otherwise create tensions between India and Sri Lanka.

  2. The EU is simply the political‐economic counterpart to NATO with the only real difference being that the USA more or less controls NATO directly while with the EU it is more of a heavy and indirect influence exercised by more sophisticated means.
