The USA has already implicitly admitted Taiwan belongs to China, it did this when it recognised China in the first place back in 1979.

@parallax9281 Yes. And in this case I think it's a case of China being mightier than the USA in its own back yard. Maybe everywhere else (except Russia) the USA'S might may reign supreme but not here, I'm afraid. All the USA can do is bluff and bluster.

@Carbuncle0168 And I sincerely hope that it does, leaving aside the substantive meanings of words like freedom and democracy. However, have you considered the option of 1 country, 2 systems that Hong Kong uses? Taiwan under such a system would preserve substantial autonomy while realising the goal of reunification with the homeland.

It takes money to maintain an empire so I wonder how long it will take for the USA to realise the implications of this when China and the world stop propping up the dollar. Perhaps China prefers to prop up the dollar until the bankers are in a position to replace the world's national currencies with a single international currency dominated by just a few countries, China amongst them.
