  1. Like with Russia — not a hot war but a cold war. Especially regarding the European Union and countries like Japan and South Korea. The USA wants to partially disconnect their economies and keep Eurasia disunited.

  2. Theatrics. I doubt they have the ability or desire to really go against China or Russia. If there is some kind of military confrontation it will probably be semi-accidental, limited and of short duration.

  3.  @HarrySmith-hr2iv  But that debt would be repudiated during a war. And I don't think anyone believes for a moment that the USA can repay, or has any intention of repaying, that debt.
