I had an ES loaner 2023 model when I put my RC in for a service and it had a really lovely interior apart from the too large centre screen. This looks far worse. The RC and older ES had plenty of character and style though. I agree this new one just looks like it was designed by AI. I love inbuilt centre screens only. If it doesn’t integrate fully into the dash I have no interest them.

The colour is amazing but that is about all. I’ll stick to my Lexus RC. This thing looks hideous.

Sir Unknown i personally think the Mazda 6 should be a turbo AWD or at least have that option. It would be spectacular. I had someone trying to race my 3.6R Liberty recently . He seemed really annoyed when he couldn't catch it. I was still ahead of him even when i was slowing to turn. We didn't break the speed limit either . Was an 80 km/h zone. I didn't even have the liberty in sport mode.

I had someone try to race my 3.6R liberty with a Mazda 6, i think they mistook it for a 4 cylinder. His GF or wife was less than impressed when i didn't even gun it and they couldn't catch up.

Derek Land It does help in Australia where everyone cuts you off.

Luis X I don't understand why people want Suv's and utilities they are completely useless outside of as a work vehicle and offer poor road handling for the most part. In Australia people are obsessed with a Toyota Hilux which is a piece of rubbish for the price. It is sad to see sedans lose out in sales thanks to ugly monstrosities on wheels. SUV's should be banned from city streets and public car parks over a certain size.
2
That would go to a Rolls Royce Phantom.
2
Porsche 911 turbo
2
Maybe they should use uber if they want to be cheap asses. No point buying a 30k plus car unless it's fun. The only way to get that is either a turbo or a 6 not underpowered 4 pots.
1
It's easily the best car Mazda builds just needs a much better engine. And a sports grille but i had every mazda plastic grille so not just to single out the 6 here.
1
James Calley So it's a 200 kw diesel then? 0-100 in 5 seconds or so ?
1
I dunno about that we have had 3 and 4 series BMW's on 5 year leases and they have never needed any work by the end of the lease.
1
Luis X Yeah unless you are a mechanic i'd advise against buying an old merc. I know someone who bought a 500 sl for $10,000 and it turned out it only needed a few hundred dollars worth of repairs to the engine. The owner was told the engine was stuffed. Bargain for that car. He insured it in Australia for 50k
1
Luis X Very true i think that person just got lucky to be honest. Plus the previous owner was clueless which did help lol
1
It would be so sweet to have a 500 SL if you did have a mechanic on tap though :) . Would love to have one lol.
1
Too underpowered for the size of the vehicle though. MPS 6 AWD would sell like crazy.

Too underpowered for the size of the vehicle though. MPS turbo 6 AWD would sell like crazy. Plus the front grille is rather ugly.

BklynBabe I find with any car the colour makes all the difference :) . Not the actual design unless it is a ferrari or a lambo which are always good as long as it's not canary yellow :)
1
BklynBabe Sorry what grille light i haven't see that? I am thinking of getting a Kia Stinger GT later this year though or at least test driving one. Looks to be good value for 53k with around 270 odd kw 0-100 in 5.1 seconds twin turbo V6. Not overly sold on the interior though which is a bit of merc, bit of audi and bit of bmw. 5 settings for the adaptive suspension would be handy in australia though and the ride is being refined by X BMW M sport guy. Sounds promising.
1
BklynBabe never seen it on an aussie model but can't say i spend much time looking at things like that. sounds cool though if a bit ricer :)
1
I think 06 was the last model Mps . It is still quite a looker today, especially in RED. Great tailpipes at the back. Such a shame they don't make them now.
1
It's such a shame really, They at least need an MPS version.
1
1AndyOnly Toyota is usually really boring to drive though. Not sure if you have the Aurion in the USA or not but that is not too bad. Still drives like a passenger car but it has 200 kw so it's alot more fun than the camry even though it is very similar in other regards.
1
boondox max It's more that is popular with businesses due to massive subsidies they can get to have them as fleet cars. Popular as hire cars as well. They are reliable i will give it that but so is the Subaru. I have seen alot more mazda 6's broken down on the side of the road and barely any Subarus.
1
Luis X They really don't want cars to last anymore though which is why they are designed to start falling apart after 4-5 years. I was also looking on the news at an accident involving 7 cars where one car a subaru legacy had a seriously injured driver yet that car has 7 airbags and it was only rear ended.. I thought cars were now meant to be safer yet he was still badly injured with all that protection including a drivers knee air bag. The car has 5 star safety standard too. Other cars faired no better. It seems they really need to be retesting these safety standards and tell the truth.
1
Luis X It all depends if it was AWD mps version alot of people would. There was talk of one.
1
Yeah i think so too , I have the 2016 3.6R sedan and have alot of fun with it. Still thinking of lowering it with proper sports suspension though. I think it would be great then.
1
KentB27 No way unless you know the person who owned it you are asking for trouble as it's likely been thrashed within an inch of it's life. Sales person always says single lady owner so they can hide the truth. I caught one out one time as the previous owners details were in the glovebox. Guess they forgot to remove that.
1
KentB27 I love the Saabs though such a shame what happened to the company as the cars were so unique. Used to see a few convertibles around.
1
Luis X I think you are wrong about the MPS though at least in Australia it was pretty popular in the mazda 3. 6 not so much as at the time it was so expensive and the 3 had the same engine. The 6 MPS is a fantastic looking car for it's age though. Much better than the awful large plastic grille on the current 6. It just looked lean and mean.
1
KentB27 They certainly do. I still can't get over how great the 06-07 Subaru Legacy/Liberty looked in wagon form. The new one would make a smart station wagon too. Not everyone wants the high riding form of the outback just to get a wagon.
1
k ma Hey there is nothing wrong with a Saab and they had the best tv ad with the saab viggen fighter jet and the cars doing stunts in unison. Worth checking out that old ad :)
1
KentB27 I'd prefer the Saab great cars but i imagine insurance is cheaper on the Mazda.
1
KentB27 That's cool. I am wondering what Subaru and Mazda are going to do once the Kia Stinger GT comes out this year as they don't have anything to offer that is anything like it. The mazda will beat it in fuel economy but even the Subaru won't be anywhere near as good a value up against it despite having AWD. Times sure are changing. I am still wondering why we are not getting an AWD stinger in Australia but it could be it would put it too far above the luxury tax threshold.
1
KentB27 i am impressed they went with adaptive suspension. some of the roads in Sydney especially wouldn't look out of place on a land mine test site. the only thing i am not too keen on although it would handle great is 35 series rear 19 inch tyres as last i checked they are horribly expensive tyres and 35 series are not likely to last too long if you do enthusiastic driving :). The only other thing is , is it best to get the one coming out this year or buy the next model where any bugs would have been ironed out as far as suspension etc for local release. I wish they had more cars like Tesla where you can just update the program to change the characteristics of the car.
1
In Australia rear seat heaters were only available from this year model anyway. pointless unless you live near the snow when the average temperature is 25 degrees c anyway.
1
It looks about as exciting as seeing the thousandth super yacht at Monaco . It doesn't stand out.
1
It shortens the life of the engine though is the downside.
1
It is over 50k in Australia. You guys get off lightly :). Only one model on offer in OZ too.
1
It looks terrible. The Crown name used to mean ultra Luxury. This looks like Kmart.
1
Sounds like it has two Sumo wrestlers sipping lattes in the back seat :)
1
You don’t need an electric car anyway. They won’t save the planet, cost far more to produce and waste far more precious material as well. No wonder most insurance companies don’t want to insure them. Electric cars are the biggest automotive scam besides the Tesla company itself.
1
I would rather have the feel of the steering wheel . There are enough things detaching people from driving when behind the wheel as it is.
1
Starting to look a bit too gaping at the front for a small car lol
1
They appeal to young people with more money than brains these days unfortunately.
1
That should be the warranty agreement :) .
1
Chump change for fools :)
1
shhh
1
Yeah sadly i see what you mean. I wish Kia's design team lately would jump in the lake they all look terrible and just made for 20 year olds with hard ons.
1
car for rich wankers is what you are trying to say :)
