  1. It was hard to bother with a PS2 when Xbox let you use your own cd’s during a game though. I will admit on occasion ps2 got the better version of a game though. To this day Need for speed hot pursuit 2 on PS2 is a masterpiece where as the Xbox version which was programmed by a different studio sucked balls and barely resembled it lol

I never understood the popularity of the PS2 as a game console It used a horrible memory card system, had terrible aliasing in games, pretty ordinary sound and no hard drive or at least not until months later. It did have out of the box DVD support though so I guess that was a strength as Xbox required a seperate add on to activate it. Enter the original Xbox that ran some games at twice the frame rate as PS2 such as the brilliant mercenaries by Pandemic and it might not have sold as well but it changed the future of game console design forever due to that 8GB Hard drive and Dolby Digital 5.1 way more than the PS2 ever did. There was nothing like Halo ever before or since that drummed up the sheer excitement factor when you got home and played that first game on the console. The future was here. Pity that PC’s have completely left consoles in the dust now but it was good while it lasted up until the 360 lol I still use my original Xbox via a HDMI adapter and my 360 as those libraries of games are just still more exciting overall compared to what has come after.
