  1. Actually, you own the house, but you don't own the property. That's why they charge property tax.

  2.  @run-cnc  The statement in my comment applies to leasing ,but if you're still paying on the house, then the bank still owns the house until you pay it all in full and the land is owned by the state. At least, that's what I heard.
