  21.  @Susanmugen The first trans person I met was in 1991. Since then, when I was part of the alphabet mafia, I would have met close to 100, maybe more. I dated an MtF and an FtM. I will say 20% of those I met were lovely, though somewhat demanding over people’s time. The other 80% were actively hostile to women and lesbian and gay people generally because they couldn’t accept that not all spaces included and in fact centred them. Several over the years were in litigation or complaints processes against women-only, particularly lesbian-only spaces and this was in the 90s. Others were suing or complaining about their employers, ex-wives, you name it. Some went from lawsuit to lawsuit but managed to avoid being named as a vexatious litigant because of their trans, hence victim status. One I knew was suing the charity he’d volunteered in for three weeks because a customer (not a fellow volunteer) in the charity’s op shop had called him a man in drag and had caused him to develop PTSD. Not one of trans identifying man I met would accept anyone else’s feelings or fears in relation to them being in every women and girls’ space but they wanted us to be their human shields against other men. Not one trans identifying female failed to get offended by being “misgendered” when they looked nothing like a man. If I’d never known a trans person in my life I’d probably still adhere to “be kind” as opposed to being truthful. I’m sure many other people who will watch this have met trans people and that’s why they’ll be watching this.

  95. I’m not going to call you any names, but I do want to explain why a lot of gender critical people are sceptical of him. Like most trans activists, even the “nice ones”, he thinks he’s entitled to women’s bathrooms and changerooms. If he says it’s because he acknowledges he’s a man so should get special dispensation, why do it? The expression “good men stay out so bad men stand out” is appropriate here. If it’s because his radfem lesbian friend insisted he use a women’s changeroom at a pool, he should be astute enough to know that one woman’s permission doesn’t negate other women’s feelings. If it’s because “what else am I going to do with DD breasts” it’s not every woman’s job to validate him. If it’s because he’s had “bottom surgery” that doesn’t mean that he, like all other trans identifying men, doesn’t potentially have male pattern criminality. A large study of pre and post-operative MtF trans people showed no difference between trans identifying and non-trans identifying men’s pattern of criminality (Djehne et al 2011) and there are cases like Dakota Nieves and Christynne Wood where post-op trans identifying men committed acts of CSA and exhibitionism respectively. He admitted he’s never been attacked in a men’s bathroom or changeroom and that he doesn’t even try to present feminine (except for the boobs), so why does he need the protection/validation/emotional support of women? Many women and girls are tired of being emotional support animals for men who may or may not be a hazard, except in most developed countries (and now India and South Africa) it’s now a hate crime to challenge them in female spaces. Anyway, that’s one reason gender critical people are getting tired. We’re being asked to make exception after exception, with the only exception being that the “less good” trans activists, the ones who don’t attempt to hide their misogyny, rightly call us out on our hypocrisy. No one can let the nice ones break the rules and insist others don’t. No men should be in women’s and girls’ spaces. Vice versa too, though that’s a whole other subject.

  104. What about the two-tier Family Court system, where there are Sharia Councils for every city and town with a significant Muslim population? This is unfair to Muslim women who aren’t allowed to be divorced or, if they are, automatically lose child custody to the ex-husband once the children reach a certain age. The UK Government isn’t even sure about the number of these councils, estimating between 30 and 85 of them. Not to mention Muslims not being prosecuted for years concerning grooming gangs, threatening Jews and others and destroying property in their “pro-Palestine” protests while the Met Police do their PR for them by explaining that a call for Jihad is perfectly harmless. Can we mention being treated with complete kid gloves re the serious medical issue of cousin marriage. Oh, and remember there’s a teacher from Batley Grammar School, who’s been in hiding for his safety since 2021 after he let students in his religious studies let his students know that he’d be discussing religious freedom, including the debate on drawing pictures of Mohammed, in his school. The Muslim parents were informed well ahead of time, and Muslim students excused from attending if they didn’t want to. Look up the Muslim Action Forum, not attached to the school but leading the protests. They’re the ones who named the teacher and suffered no repercussions. So while I’d love to share your indifference towards creeping Sharia and blasphemy laws, I think a better response to what’s been done already is to stand up to it and not be complacent. Remember that Lebanon was once a Christian majority country, prosperous and dubbed the Paris of the Middle East. Now it’s Muslim majority and it has become an economic and civil hellhole.

  105.  @matthewwalker5430 For me, the Sharia Councils are the least threatening aspect of what Islamists (and many ordinary Muslims) want to do to secular humanist legal systems in the West and how the West is ignoring it. Though a government unable to name how many there are isn’t particularly comforting. Not arresting anti-Israel protesters for physically harassing Jews and destroying property while flying allegedly illegal terrorist organisation banners is a sign that we will overlook the laws of the land. Ignoring, shutting down inquiries and finally barely punishing Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs targeting young, working class white girls sends a message that some people deserve legal protection and others don’t. Having Muslim Patrols in big cities patrolling the neighbourhood for evils like short skirts, alcohol and homosexuality lets us know how much the radicals respect and obey local laws. Hell, the London Mayer advertises Ramadan and Eid but not the Trooping of the Colours or the D-Day Commemoration, and Labour Muslims are threatening to punish them at the polls and beyond. A Greens local councillor won “for Gaza” and shouted “Allahu Akbar”, surrounded entirely by other radicals. It’s not about the intent and initial strength of secular humanist law, it’s about the determination to fight for it as opposed to ignoring those who refuse to respect it, and in fact have their own plans for improving it. It’s about learning lessons from other countries. In Iran in 1979 (most people rightly opposed the Shah but foolishly supported the Ayatollah Khomeini, thinking he’d repay their support with laws allowing freedom). I also mentioned Lebanon; watch Brigette Gabriel talk about how it changed when Muslims became the majority. I’ve also lived in what was an almost 50/50 Muslim and Christian country and even then the Muslims attacked Christians and followers of traditional animist beliefs. They haven’t taken over yet but there are a lot of terrorist attacks inevitably started by one religion. I would simply say do not be complacent and don’t think there’s no plan to Muslims running for every level of government office and protesting schools that teach things they don’t approve of. Also, watch the “hate crime legislation” in Scotland and Ireland and how it will be used to silence criticism of Islam. De facto blasphemy laws aren’t ideal in a democratic country. Edited again because I’m shadowbanned.
