I would say that most of the bias at the time was in the choice of stories. While any given story is reported neutrally that does not make the news neutral. I think we need something that combines the reporting of the time but also a better way of choosing stories based on informing the public. You have only to look at the treatment of civil rights and LGBT issues in the news to see this. They did do a MUCH better job of talking about bills in congress. However, I think that the German DW channel does as even better job of talking about issues because instead of breaking it down into something as simple as two side with for and against they tend to talk a lot more about the complexities of the issue.
