  1. The comments I like the most are ones that tell me why and where something comes from. So if you are implementing a scientific algorithm writing down what paper you are implementing is REALLY important. Another common one is if you had to do external calculations for something. For example if you have done optimization and profiling to come up with some settings for a solver then it is really useful to write down why those solver settings are used and where the testing was done.
