  1. I'm and engineer and I push for using metric base units everywhere that it makes sense, especially in computer simulations. I have seen far too many things screwed up because of errors related to units. There are a few exceptions I can think of. When dealing with very high energy systems instead of mass in kg it can make more sense to look at mass in eV using E=mc^2 so that everything is in energy units. You still use SI energy units though. The one unit we have that is still annoying is time. That one is annoying as hell. For anything less than 1 second you have decimal units which is great. Above that you have 60s =1 min 60 min = 1 hr, 24 hrs = 1 day etc. etc. it is a mess. For that reason I try to use only seconds and conversions are done only for output.
