The tickets should be that high. He was driving recklessly and if he hit anyone he would have killed them. He actively chose to behave in a manner that was completely negligent of other human lives. Honestly if you are driving 45 over the limit you should just have your license pulled. In a few years you can go through driver training again to get a license if you do it again the loss is permanent.

@@CantbeetPie Finland has no government mandated minimum wage HOWEVER they do have sectoral unions which create an effective minimum wage. They also have a much stronger social safety net so you never choose between working and ending up homeless on the street and starving.

@Stinger913 Most Europeans I know don't have cars because they don't want them not because they can't get them. If you can walk to the store in less than 5 minutes and walk or ride a bike to nearly anything you need in about 10 minutes and take transit to get almost anywhere else why would you need a car. I live in Germany, I can get to Paris in 4 hours from where I live by train, it takes longer to get there by plane.
