You will find that in the EU but I can't see it happening in the USA. :( Right now the EU is working on a law to make usb-c a charging standard for almost any type of device that uses DC and less than 240W. It should save a LOT of ewaste and create more value in getting high efficieny usb hubs to power things.

  2. I suspect this is probably not legal in the UK or the EU. There are a lot of laws about ewaste and standardization now. It even looks like usb-c is going to be the standard for just about anything that works on dc power and less than 240W to get rid of more waste.

  3. So long as people keep buying them what incentive do they have to change? It is the same thing that enables all kinds of other corporate abuse.

  4. I expect full right to repair legislation from the EU in the next few years. The recent work on standardizing connectors is already really nice.
