  1. Apparently only about 23% of American's use Twitter. It is certainly not as widely used as many people think. Mostly what I have seen is that platforms that don't block a lot of the extremist and violent content soon start running out of users because most people don't want to be involved with that. Reddit has actually done some experiments and they found that banning the most toxic subreddits and people ended up increasing engagement on the platform. They also found that most of those people that where not banned and moved to other subreddits did not carry that behavior to the new places. Research indicates that most people want to fix in and adopt the practices they see around them. Blocking extremism and violence really does work. This is the part where issues get complicated with free speech. I like free speech but it seems humans are not really compatible with it. The more white supremacist content there is online the more white supremacists you will have. I don't know what the correct balance should be and the issue is very complicated.
