  1. BAR was designed to be a LMG in an era where LMGs were a new thing. It may not look like one, but BAR is over 100 years old.

  2. Combat rifle is kind of already in use. Modern battle rifles are often called combat rifles. There are no definition, but if we look something like the SCAR-H (Special combat assault rifle), it's more controllable than the AKM.
