FWIW my old roommate twisted her ankle really bad, she went to the doctor and they gave her cortisone but a new nurse did not prepare it properly. Not one single doctor in LA could help this young woman afterward, the pain never went away and the injury remained for about 2 years. One day she went to an acupuncturist and boom, that was it, one visit and for the rest of the time I knew her (7 years) not one problem. She came back from the doctor dancing. That goes way beyond psychosomatic issues and correlation.
