There are like 3 "missing verses" and the mention of the word slave is really not an issue unless of course you need to make an issue out of everything.

No because it's part of history. What's next? Will you remove slavery from history books? Maybe not overreact. Anyway nice racist rant at the end there.

To start, you have no idea of my "race" or even political affiliation. And another thing, I am not a moron that decided to speak about Key having no idea about who he was and what his opinion really was. Did you know he defended the rights of individual slaves as a lawyer? For free? He set free his own slaves and one kept working for him for wage after. He convinced people it was wrong. He also fought to have them returned to their rightful home instead of freed and abandoned in America. Did you also know some slaves at that time on both the British and American sides were white? Yes that's right.

While we are at it, let's just remove every part of history that makes us uncomfortable, including the word slave. And you missed the part where all enemy deaths are celebrated.
6
Yes but you missed the part where other deaths were also celebrated...it was war right?

No it is a non issue because everyone else was subject to the same celebration of death, just because slaves are mentioned, you gloss over everything else.

***** You might take it as racist but then again people take offense at many different things, it is your prerogative. I understand the mention of the word in this context is offensive to some but the point is that the context is the same for any of the British white folk as well. The fact that they pretty much never ever sing the line and this coming to light way after the fact just shows how overboard this has become. Now, if you want to rewrite the anthem, excluding that part, in a official manner, because of the statement, I have no issue, in fact it's a good idea. It's when people want to just throw the entire thing under a "racist" rug, get rid of it all together and make it part of someones political ammo that it becomes something just outright stupid.

"slaves were an integral part of the US economy and the trade of human beings as chattel contributed immensely to the wealth of this nation is evident" This is true to a certain extent. It made some people rich and did help the Americas establish international trade in certain commodities but it also had the unfortunate consequence of making African slave traders wealthy as well because most of the profits made from these commodities were reinvested into the trade itself. Yes please read the "African slave trader" part again because they too are responsible for this atrocity. Free labor is great for the rich because they can afford to buy, keep and feed slaves but for the majority, they were competition for jobs, so although slavery made some Americans quite wealthy and helped out America on the map, the system itself worked against the populace as a whole.
