They had 8 years and they literally forced Russias hand. Meanwhile Canadian and other forces were training Ukraine to repel the Russian forces because they never wanted to fix the underlying problem. And in the Middle East, US forces are in northern Syria helping "freedom fighters" or "separatists" in the same regard as Russia is in Ukraine.
