  1. *****  I would gather many of the inhabitants of the Smaller cities and towns served in the military just as they do in the USA. Considering the region it is more likely they saw actual combat.

  2. Anyone can go out and acquire uniforms, local people that probably served together in the past might have an easier time looking in their closet. Russian arms in that area are plentiful, provisions is speculative since they are home based and well trained is really nowhere to be found. Seriously, what marvel of military feats are you referencing that any group of armed people couldn't do?
