Comments by "chocomalk" (@chocomalk) on "In Narrow Ruling, Supreme Court Sides with Baker Who Refused Cake to Same-Sex Couple" video.
This is not a narrow ruling and the ruling is not just for his "specific case". This was not a ruling about LGBT rights or anyone else except the bakers right to refuse service to ANYONE.This is in fact a pretty solid and wide ruling.

The law is pretty clear, he can refuse anyone service for any reason as long as his business does not provide public accommodation.

That is the media interpretation of what the case was about, his right to refuse service to ANYONE. It is only a narrow ruling is you didn't know what the case was about...his rights. If you were a DJ and an Ex of yours was getting married and you did not like them you can refuse service. If someone you know is Anti-LGBT, you can refuse them service.

He does not operate a business that hosts the public like a restaurant or theater and that is the only time where discrimination laws apply on the federal level. You mat as well say a plumber HAS to accept work from his ex wife he hates or from someone he dislikes because that is the bulk of the case regardless of the religious overtones. You have the right to refuse work. Also as someone else pointed out, he didn't refuse the clients only the specific cake they wanted. He also said he would not make an anti American cake.

CNN opinions and talking heads spew the party line as do all media at this point, the phrase narrow ruling is all over the place and is usually only for the vote count, not for a precedent. And in truth, any legal decision that stands without an appeal creates a precedent, that is what a precedent is. The CNN lawyer knows this. And this has nothing to do with discrimination perse, he did not feel comfortable making a "gay cake", it was not the clients but the context. He also stated he would not make an anti American cake either. Would you expect a painter that loves women to happily accept a commission to paint two men having anal sex? Would you think it should be law that he should have to accept the commission if he was just not into it? I have no problem with gay/lesbian or whatever, I have had plenty of friends and relatives that are gay, but If I was a photographer I would not want to photograph gay men having sex nor do I think I should be forced to do so.
