That is not downplaying. What he did was accept the premise and gave an answer based accordingly.

@IronskullGM uhm US comes in at #2 just after China, though the US has the most consistent decline

@socialconstruct175 The problem with this consensus science is that the evidence comes from so many different branches of science I doubt one single person could actually review and understand it all. I don't deny that carbon is bad as a pollutant, that's easy to understand. But this is not as cut and dry as that so I can understand why some people don;t buy it.

@00st307-m He didn't dismiss it, but funny he gave a great answer, common sense. The US manufactures raw materials then ships them to China so China can make crap and then ship it back. That's two trips around the world worth of emissions solved, just what you want and you would rather harp on BS.

@socialconstruct175 That is a problem because it is filtered through others and is not a reason to "believe". Science is about understanding and replication and I doubt a single person could legitimately verify the totality of it.

@socialconstruct175 The point is that in order to put "belief" aside it requires an individual to be able to fully check, understand and replicate the data. We know that science is unbiased but scientists are not. We know that science is fact over fiction but humans can be bought. We have seen time and time again how science can be bought or politicized. Both tobacco and fossil fuel scientists were bought and that is the tip of the iceberg. And as much as I can verify some of it, it takes the entire body of evidence to fully prove and that I find problematic.
