Not sure it represents much unity to the lands of other nations in the South-East Asian archipelago that it is essentially laying claim to?! Are there populists in power right now? (Apologies I'm ashamed to say I know precisely zero about Indonesian politics).

  5.  @anshul6168  I know they are not actually laying claims to lands of Malaysia/Singapore but they are celebrating a time when they did as if it were 'better' in some way, ignoring all the things that were objectively much much worse back then. I'm sure that name is not seen as particularly friendly in the other nations of the archipelago. Yes, the analogies of Columbus and the British Monarchy are also perfect examples of backwards thinking that I thoroughly disagree with, thanks for making my point for me. Why not celebrate the future, instead of mythologise the past. This type of toxic nationalism only serves to divide people along lines that no longer exist/need not exist any longer. I'm very disappointed to have learnt what I've learnt today.

  6.  @anshul6168  It's a name that refers to small islands of that nation and also large islands that do not belong to that nation! Obviously history is incredibly important, in many ways it's the only thing that's really real, in fact knowing the reality of history is exactly what I'm advocating for. Were things ACTUALLY better during the time of that empire? Can you tell me specifically what on earth made it 'glorious'?! If you take a look at the life of the average citizen of that empire I'm 99.9% sure they were living a much worse life objectively speaking than the average citizen of modern day Indonesia, or what is possible in the future. Why should we cling to this fake version of history that says society was better because some king had power over a larger territory and was personally wealthy. What kind of measure is that? It's utterly nonsensical, it's a way of tricking the masses into letting the powerful stay that way and clearly you've fallen for that trick. p.s. yes obviously gravity and relativity are still relevant to human existence, but they were way before Newton and Einstein made up a name for them, and will be important until this universe implodes.
