It's definitely an odd one, he attempts to blocks the shot and misses it, then the Argentine runs into him. Like where is he supposed to go? Alverez was never catching up to the ball and the Croat defender clears it. In my book that's not a penalty because the ball is free to contest, no one is in possession, Alvarez wins the contest and then Alvarez runs into the keeper. The keeper is flat footed he doesn't step toward the striker. Actually the more I think about it, the more I think it's a free kick to Croatia.

@smallarmskepa4390 I realise you appointed yourself as this threads resident football expert, but you have this one wrong mate. During those 50/50s the foul is not given against whoever simply doesn't touch the ball. It's given against whoever initiates the contact, I think the Argentine does that in this case. Free kick Croatia

@and_mand_ka_tola You never know if those other goals would have happened without the first. But Argentina were more dangerous is the final third for sure.

@kimstewart1204 100% not a red, there were 2 Croatian defenders tracking back and one of them even blocked the shot, it wasn't a clear goalscoring opportunity IF that was actually a foul. I still think the keeper has every right to challenge for the free ball I don't think the foul is given against whoever doesn't touch the ball. It's given against whoever intiates the contact, I think the Argentine does that.
