The military schools like West Point and Naval are free. They just require a 5.5 year active duty commitment and you're not paying for anything. There are ways to go about, but you have to find them..

Problem with used is that you have to account for maintenance and other costs. You may or may not get a warranty and it sometimes can cost more to repair it. I have had a used car but thing is when it was 100k miles I had to pay for more and more repairs.

@MatejKebe wtf? The Navy is cutting back on the subs since a lot of technological advancements have been made since the Los Angeles class and we now have subs that can do more advanced missions. The number of Virgina class subs to the number of Los Angeles class is going to be hugely different

Have to point out that the result of spending so much money is for R & D and the results of new technologies coming out. Thing is the maintenace of planes and subs is not cheap and eventually they will need to decommissioned. Think of a used car: you would spend less on insurance but more on repairs. Russia has had issues when it came to developing their subs which caused a lot more deaths including subs sinking and their crews perishing from various disasters. The USS Scorpion was put on a tight budget compared to other subs of the same class and it led to issues.

Not surprising. A lot of my high school classmates went straight to college while some others went to look for jobs. I took time off from school to get a job and now I'm going back to finish up because it's tough being able to get a job without a B.A. or B.S. or without experience. I got in at a good time and last I heard there were over 2000 people applying for government sector entry level positions in LA County.

Thing is they are kept classified and you're not allowed to talk about your work. My uncle was in IT working for Raytheon and he was forced to keep tight lip and had to get high security clearance. They don't allow for anyone to work..
