Migration may have been the third most important issue for all voters a couple of days ago but after this last weekend it’s right at number one! People are utterly FURIOUS that people we’ve welcomed into our country have chosen to abuse and disrespect our country IN THE CENTRE OF OUR CAPITAL!! We’re fed up with them and now we just want them GONE!

@dannygolightly865 British people have a sense of what is FAIR. Hence our proclivity of queueing. We are polite, good natured, mild-mannered and tolerant. We’re not especially religious but we are generally Protestant and these Christian values extend into the basis of our legal system. We are very creative and have a long, illustrious history which arguably had more positive effect for mankind than any other country in history. British Culture is very varied but these are the main central threads that run through your cultures. It’s such a shame that you find it necessary to ask that question.

It’s gotta be said, Matthew has his finger on the pulse of The British People! One would normally expect an academic who’s associated mainly with think tanks to be happily ensconced in an ivory tower but he has a very refreshing honesty and clarity. I hope this man will help Britain to rekindle its belief in itself and move forward from Brexit.

@markdaniels2200 No Mark. Our society’s general structure may be similar to Rome but we have a unique and eternal constitution, upon which much of the US constitution is based. Our Government just chooses to de-emphasise it because membership of the EU would have been unconstitutional in the first place.

@testudohorsfieldii7052 Not sure where the words “issues like migration” should be inserted or substituted into either of the above comments. Very few people have a problem with immigration, so long as numbers are efficiently controlled, identities are confirmed and criminal elements are kept to a tolerable minimum and it has no negative effect on British Culture or that humanitarian immigration is confirmed to be valid prior to embarkation.

@beauregardrippey5508 That’s a really very good point! Miami was very different when I first visited in the early 80’s. It seems to have “leant-in” to its Cuban culture and rediscovered its Spanish roots of late.

@testudohorsfieldii7052 And of course, you’re totally impartial. Matthew gave the results of his research. Is it not reasonable to assume that those results have been arrived at by honest and professional means?

@testudohorsfieldii7052 1: Why would he mention climate change when the question is about multiculturalism? Please tell me you’re not going to roll out that old chestnut about climate change being the cause of mass migration. There’s no evidence whatsoever to support that assertion. 2. “He’s just telling people what they want to hear”. That’s as may be. It’s not as though The Guardian and The Socialist Worker don’t do exactly the same thing. And given that The Guardian is BBC Producers’ go-to rag and that the other broadcast media tends to follow the BBC’s line it’s reasonable to assume that the Guardian has more influence than The Spectator. You’re making exactly the mistake that the establishment made when they expected the country to vote against Brexit and Labour made at the 2019 election when the so-called “red wall” collapsed. You’re underestimating the depth of feeling and extent of the revulsion that ordinary British people feel for the results of the so-called “progressive” Neoliberal dogma. Our sensibilities are, in the main the result of the influence of The English Constitution over 900 years and no amount of Marx or Engels is going to persuade a majority of Brits

If you don’t understand how those luxury beliefs translate into behaviours that are negative for poorer people perhaps you shouldn’t be commenting on the matter since they seems self-evident to many people. Of course Mogg and Braverman are members of the elites ( shadowy or otherwise ) but he’s simply saying that those on the right tend to be uncomfortable when navigating cultural issues because they tend to be focused on status. He almost said those very words. What’s so hard to understand about that concept?

@testudohorsfieldii7052 Which particular statement? I’m tiring of your persistent generalities. Be specific if you expect a response
