Reminds me of "antiques roadshow" where someone proudly displays an antique dresser they've refinished, which is valued at a thousand dollars or something, only to have the evaluator say that if hadn't been refinished, it would be worth a quarter-million dollars or so. Their facial expressions are priceless.

  2. I was wondering if the exterior might not be wood which was stucco'd over. That's pretty common here in California. The Angeles Crest area of LA has a number of beautiful Victorians. It was a slum, but has come fully back to life.
