  1. They did the right thing 👍🏻 He’s a full grown man, not a child, he chose his own fate in very slow motion. He knew the risks, disobeyed all sane expectations of a man. Officers played it cool, were more than tolerant, & carry a lot of sensitive equipment that’s not to be destroyed by every whimsical pull at interactive boundaries. It would have been negligent to dive in geared up, or to dismount one’s gear in front of another potentially unstable, or about to become unstable, individual for the partner to govern two sets of weapons & individual. We don’t know if the officers possessed such swim skillsets to assist a fully grown man, especially a fight one. We don’t know if the man possessed a knife, or if he had any intentions at dragging a cop down with him. We do know that he could swim & chose not to use the Deadman’s Float until a boat arrived. Cold water, out of shape man suffer substrate depletion, cramping, nothing to holding to against the waves. Many men of below average appearing capacities have overcome far greater… I think it’s only fair to those officers family members to thanks for using your thinking caps that day 🧢👍🏻
