A low-yield tactical nuclear weapon would certainly blow a hole in Ukrainian lines BUT in order to exploit that hole the Russians would first have to amass a substantial armoured force with well trained crews behind the point of intended detonation. Whether Russia can amass such a force is uncertain and if it could then could it be done in secret are all doubtful propositions. Assuming that Russia started to amass such a force and began moving a nuclear weapon toward the intended place of detonation it is virtually certain that it would not go unnoticed and NATO may well take pre-emptive action to destroy the amassed armour and the nuclear weapon before it can be launched. We live in interesting times but not so interesting as to contemplate the end of civilisation.
