  1. A declining population and stagnant technology could well lead to the problems that Peter Z highlights BUT technology in a stable democracy never stagnates. A declining workforce will likely lead to increased labour costs but those increased costs will stimulate the development of technology to improve labour productivity. If Ukraine, after the war can establish itself as a stable democracy then a bright future awaits it. Russia on the other hand not so much.
