Before geting excited over Gazprom's reported profit I'd like to know how it's treated its asset valuations. Nordstream2 (for example) is now likely to valueless so has that reduction in value been taken to account and if so how has that been done? Either it could have been as a charge against the P&L or else direct to shareholder funds in the balance sheet. In either case there will likely be a material overstatement in company net value.

If/when Russia collapses Putin will be overthrown, but in all likelihood he'll be replaced with someone equally bad. This new president may seek a ceasefire and even may withdraw from Ukraine but this will only be until Russia can resume the war. The only hope for a long-term peace is to ensure that Russia is never again in a position to invade its neighbours.
