  1. Among the countries with the military and economic strength to count Russia is essentially friendless. As Russia weakens it is a virtual certainty that their 'allied' countries will move away and seek new friends. Russia is not a unitary nation but rather an empire with internal colonies again as Russia weakens these can be expected to seek independence and new friends. In a conventional war with NATO and very likely China Russia would be creamed and in a nuclear war everybody loses. In the near term a Chinese invasion of Russia is unlikely but in the medium to long term perhaps.
