  1. I suspect that NATO more broadly wants the Russian navy rendered ineffective in the Black Sea. At some point famine will strike in various parts of the world, when that happens and with a weakened Russian navy a bulk grain carrier with NATO protection could well enter the Black Sea to take on grain at Odessa. This would be a major humanitarian coup for the West, a black eye for the Russians and a source of revenue for the Ukrainians.
