The cities that top Detroit are never surprising though.

No there's not. Chicago is humongous in size. Most of the city is good or great. It's the small number of bad and really bad neighborhoods that everyone hears about that makes the city seem worse than it is.

@Michael Myers Thanks for the alley oop, I'm about to slam dunk this. Of course its racism. What was your sentiment when you asked that I wonder? Surely it wasn't to dodge the fact that racism holds a fair amount of accountability lol. Have you read the 13th amendment? Did black people get any reparation or restitution before they were thrown in the ghettos after slavery? Did cointelpro not disrupt leadership in black communities in the 70's? Whatever race you are, would you trade places with the treatment of black people in America?

1. D.C. 9. West Palm Beach, Florida 8. Shreveport, Louisiana 7. Dayton, Ohio 6. Memphis, TN 5. Baton Rouge, Louisiana 4. New Orleans 3. Detroit 2. Baltimore 1. St. Louis I knew Chicago wouldn't make the list. West Palm Beach is a surprise.

@WhatAboutall I wouldn't say communities.

No one's gonna mention what caused the conditions? 😞

My roots are in Shreveport. So glad my great grandmother moved to the Midwest. I'd hate to be from Louisiana.

@WhatAboutall Social class is more like it.

@WhatAboutall Any label really. They're a very small amount of the topic. There are not alot of people who glorify the crime in their city. The ones who do are black though and hip hop carries an influence.
1
@WhatAboutall I don't disagree with you. I live in a city and have enablers in my family as well. I'm just saying most people in the areas don't brag about their crimes. Some do though, and it's given a voice through rap and hip hip music. There are more advocates on missions to stop the violence than those glorifying. They get no attention.
1
@WhatAboutall But the advocates are not minimal. I'm trying to get you to understand it's not the majority of black folk in the ghettos that glorify the violence. They are a small percentage. What that percentage is I'm not sure but it's not the majority. That small percentage gets a voice through hip hop and is spread to the masses. That's not the case to those who oppose. There are plenty of advocates against. You just haven't heard of them. I don't know what city you are in or how much you frequent the communities but I can speak on behalf of the ghettos of Chicago and St. Louis

Those are very big expensive cities with alot of people. Crimes are more concentrated in different and specific areas in the large cites these days. Gotta love gentrification.
