  1. I can see the argument that there needs to be changes within the police service. Qualified immunity seems ,at times, to be over the top. The jail time associated with a simple possession have been contested in the court of public opinion many times. That being said, defunding the police won't work. Even with all the social programs in the world, there will still be people that falter. There will still be people that decide to murder each other. A social worker isn't going to show up during a bank robbery or armed individual shooting people in a school. IMO they need to slowly balance the scales. Society needs to invest more in the people and less enforcement but there will always be a need for a police presence when individuals can't follow the rules society has laid out.

  2. I understand what you are saying and agree with you but that isn't what the guy who was interviewed said. your experiment only works if they also spend a butt load on social services before hand.
