  1. Why does someone need to look like you to receive support? Seems racist to me. Black people aren't believed when they say they are in labour? I'd like to see the stats "research" on this one. I could get behind them being believed less if it isn't painfully obvious. Black mothers are lost more often... does poverty have anything to do with this, if you looked at it from a below 20k a year wages for instance. Sounds like the OB is more pissed that you aren't married compared to anything to do with the colour of your skin A successful birth is the birthing person feels empowered?? I know what all these words mean, but this is not the mark of a successful birth. Perfect, Lauren Underwood sounds very intelligent. What are the barriers in health care she is talking about? Why are the doula services less accessible for women in your community? Again I think this has more to do with poverty than melanin.
